As a Birthday present for an old friend of mine Colin, I offered to draw his portrait. Colin is a fine artist himself and loves to draw celebrity portraits, but didn’t have, for all the hundreds of pictures he has created, one of himself. My portrait hopefully captures the comedic side of him. When he and I used to work together a few years ago now, he would always have a pencil tucked behind his ear for safekeeping, so I incorporated this into the drawing also. And, as I mentioned with his dedication for portraiture I felt an inclusion of a giant pencil making it a bit of a visual pun, like the “hunter” now being “hunted”.

The piece was drawn on 250 gram (115lb) ‘Bristol Board’.
